The French private lab, CEF-Boulard, Paris uses BÜHLMANN Calprotectin assays since 2010. Initially, the lab started with BÜHLMANN Quantum Blue® Calprotectin. In 2012 the lab switched to BÜHLMANN fCAL® ELISA applied on DS2 microplate robot from Dynex. In 2017 the successful switch from ELISA to BÜHLMANN fCAL® turbo on AU5800 was fulfilled.

Laboratorio Germano de Sousa, a large privately hold clinical laboratory in Portugal with over 1.2 Mio patient samples per year runs the BÜHLMANN fCAL® turbo on an Advia 2400 chemistry analyzer and Unilabs Portugal, a private European lab chain, made a comprehensive evaluation of different Calprotectin assays on the market and found many discrepancies with assays from other suppliers.
We present the debriefing of this highly interesting meeting for BÜHLMANN diagnostic products. Numerous ECCO IBD abstracts contained data produced by BÜHLMANN assays, mainly calprotectin and biologics trough levels by Quantum Blue® and by the IBDoc® home test.
BÜHLMANN fCAL® ELISA, an in vitro diagnostic assay intended for the quantitation of calprotectin in human stool, has received 510(k) clearance from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is now commercially available in the US.
